My latest semi-random teleporting trip took me to the Black Knight region. From the map it doesn’t look like anything special — an island with a big black box in the middle. But when I landed there…
Oh my.
It’s a space station. It’s a beautiful space station. There are plenty of nooks and crannies to explore, and lots of places where you just want to stop and say wow. It’s still under construction, so it pays to be careful. A few times I walked out of an unmarked airlock and fell to the land below (which looks to be a burned-out shell of a city).
Black Knight is the creation of Melses Ahn and her friends, who designed and built the station, as well as the uniforms and other items available for sale as you enter. (Note: in the spirit of full disclosure, Melses gave me a uniform and commemorative watch when she found me exploring the station and I mentioned I was going to blog about it).
Melses plans for Black Knight to be the home of a roleplay group. While she (and much of the signage) is Japanese, she says that people from around the world are already involved. She’s certainly starting with a good foundation. The station has lots of rooms that can be used for most anything, including an animal lab, offices, a mess hall, and docking bay.
Even if you aren’t interested in joining a roleplay group, Black Knight is one heck of a build and a joy to explore.
